Dirty Dick’s Crab House is a family owned business, (3 partners), with 2 locations in the “Outer Banks” of North Carolina.

WhoWe Are

We bill ourselves as “Seafood with a New Orleans Accent, with nuances of the Chesapeake Bay”. Our menus include soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, seafood, steaks, chicken, and our World Famous Sweet Corn Hush Puppies!!!!

We are a family friendly full service restaurant with a full bar, Kid’s Menu, and a large retail shop with our World Famous T-shirts.

Our menu obviously features crab, steamed, including snow crab, Alaskan King Crab, Dungeness, and local Blue when available. We also feature non steamed seafood, such as soft shell crab and Maryland style Crab Cakes, other shell fish such as Oysters, Mussels, Clams and Scallops.

Our New Orleans specialties include LA Crab Dip, Gator Bites, Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Blackened Fish, Chicken or Prime Rib, Louisiana Style Shrimp Scampi, our very own Crab Lasagna, and Shrimp and Grits, Award Winning White Chocolate Bread Pudding, Beignet Fries, and many more.

Call us at Thanksgiving and Christmas for our Handmade Fried Turkey and Turduckens for pick up during the holidays!

My husband surprised me with a. Trip to the outer banks for my birthday and Dirty Dicks was our first stop in town! Sheri was the highlight of our trip, made killer drinks and was the sweetest woman you could ever hope to run into…. In the off season when everything slows down….she is the reason to visit this place! Food was good! Service was impeccable and she even gave us hidden gems to visit that only locals know about!!! If you get a chance go see Sherri!!!

I ordered the shrimp po boy, and I really enjoyed it. The staff was wonderful, and the environment was really cool too. It’s a mature place to go to with some of the humor, but younger kids will enjoy it too. I highly recommend the po boy and fried pickles. The fried pickles came with a very unique sauce that I really enjoyed. This is the second year in a row I stopped here while on vacation, and I can’t wait to go back next year.

Stumbled upon this place after trying several other places that had zero availability. Though this place was absolutely SLAMMED with customers, we got in within 15-20 minutes. They are like a well oiled machine and have major capacity levels to accommodate the mass influx. But enough about that…. Their food is fantastic, I was quite skeptic before it came out. A place this size…surely the quality can’t be that high… but it was. Service was quick and friendly, the appetizers and food were exactly what we were hoping for, and their drinks were actually really tasty. Dirty Dick’s knows what they are doing and they don’t mess around.
Also, side note:
Of all the places we ate, they had the best hush puppies - hands down.

Great place to eat. We went to see Wright Brothers first flight at Kill Devils Hill and stopped in for lunch; our server, Tempest, made it so special for us!!! Had ½doz Rockefeller oysters (so differently good), and stuffed flounder - remarkable! B.u.u.t.t.t... the hush puppies were superb!! Took a side of home, they didn't make it through the night!!

A little high priced but I think that's due to recent increases. Tasty house drinks with funny souvenir cups. Shrimp scampi is delicious.

James (Chef Beany) Macgregor, the New Orleans native of this group, was former Executive Chef early on in his career in the most popular Stephen and Martin Restaurant. It is where he learned his craft in fine dining. He was also Executive Chef Worldwide and Vice President with Hard Rock Cafe and then Planet Hollywood International. HE travelled many years traveling and training each Executive Chef for each store in countries around the world before settling down in Panama City Beach.

Ken Hersey ( Our Founder), is a retired builder & National Assistant Sales Director for Converse Shoes from the DC area, is our Retail Guru!

Jack Frestel, is a retired attorney & Senior Vice President of US Air, as well as an MBA University of Chicago.

We pride ourselves with wholesome, made from scratch food in a fun atmosphere. We welcome large parties, locals, visitors and generational families to each one of our restaurants. Thank you for visiting us and being our guests!
